1. What do you do?

Our purpose is to help you achieve your financial dreams in as simple a way as possible. We work with you to create an individual financial plan that matches your life plan and your personal goals. It will be designed around what’s most important to you, so that you can live the life you want.
We know that financial planning can seem complicated and sometimes confusing so we remove the complexity for you. With an Otus Financial Plan in place you have the reassurance that gives you the chance to dream – to look forward into your future and see what’s truly possible. Your money will be under control so you’ll have the confidence to spend on those things that are important to you, but which you might otherwise put off.
We’ll help you remove any anxiety about money so that you feel less worried and may even allow yourself to have more fun.
Our approach at Otus is to build long lasting, strong relationships with our clients so that you can feel confident we’re always there for you. Once your plan is in place we will actively manage it for you and keep you updated regularly. That way you’ll be financially organised, know where you’re heading and be reassured that you’re on track.  You’ll budget better, save tax and could even increase your income.
We’ll remove your financial hassles so that you have more time for what’s important to you now and in the future. We’ll provide you with the proof you need so that you have a clear vision of when you can choose whether to continue working or not.

2. How do you deliver what you promise?

When Otus was first created we made a decision at the outset to limit the number of clients we work with. That way we can be certain we have enough time to develop a personal relationship with each of our clients, so that you receive a truly bespoke service. This is what differentiates us from other financial planners.
Otus is a company built upon traditional values. This means that we have chosen to be completely independent rather than having preferred affiliations with specific companies. That way you can be absolutely certain that any products we recommend to help you achieve your plan will be the most suitable for you and that you will never be recommended a product because of a favoured relationship with a particular provider
At Otus we always put your interests first. That means we will be completely honest with you about charges at every step.
The most important thing to us in creating your plan is to design it around your life goals. At our first meeting the thing we’re most interested in finding out is what's most important to you.  This is then the cornerstone on which all our recommendations are based.

3. How do I know if you're the right adviser for me?

If you believe that financial planning is more about life than it is about money then Otus is right for you. If you’re looking for an adviser that is genuinely interested in helping you achieve your financial dreams and building a long term relationship with you to make sure your plans stay on target, that’s exactly what we do.
If it’s important to you to work with the same adviser for the duration of your financial life plan, and you would feel more comfortable working with someone who truly understands your personal goals then we are the company for you.
Feedback from our customers shows that whilst they value our experience and in-depth knowledge, it’s the personal, bespoke service which is of most importance to them.
We work with Company Directors, Senior Executives, Professionals, people who’ve come into money and people planning for retirement. To us, it’s not your personal circumstances that matter most; it is the fit between our values and yours, because that is what shapes your relationship with us.
If you have a clear understanding of what you want to achieve in life and are looking to delegate the more complex parts of your financial planning then we can definitely help you. It may be that it’s really important to you to get this right but you never seem to find the time, or that don’t feel you have the knowledge or inclination to deal with it yourself. Otus can take care of all of that for you.

4. What keeps you in this business?

What motivates us at Otus is empowering clients like you to make smart choices with your money, to fulfil your financial aspirations and experience genuine security in your life as a result.  We like to see that we’re making a difference – by helping people to understand that money in itself is not that important.  What’s important is the extent that it allows you to enjoy the things that matter to you most.
The founder of Otus, Chris Weetman says “Money is important to me, not in itself, but because it gives me choices.  It enables me to accomplish what’s important to me and having a plan means that I can do the things I want to do, when I want to do them, giving a sense of freedom that few things can.   I want to build a business that helps people achieve their goals, I want to give my children the best start in life and have a certain quality of life that gives me peace of mind.”

We charge a percentage fee for the cost of our on-going service and regular reviews.  Typically this fee is paid on a monthly basis, based upon the daily average, or month end value, of funds under management.

The fee charged reflects the amount of work we carry out on your behalf and the additional services provided.

It should be noted that our on-going management services are subject to a minimum fee per annum of £750.

Example 1:  If your investments are valued at £50,000, the on-going management adviser charge we would receive is £500. As this is less than the minimum on-going service fee we would charge you £250 as the balance.

Example 2:  If your investments are valued at £500,000, the on-going management adviser charge we would receive is £5,000 per annum. As this is more than the minimum on-going service fee no other charges would be applied.

Our charges are guaranteed not to increase within the first 12 months of your contract with us.  Should we need to increase our charges after this period, you will be given notice of this fact and the opportunity to decide whether to continue with the revised level of charges

See our services for further details.

7. What if I'm still not sure?

At Otus we don’t believe that any one financial adviser is right for every client. It’s important to us that our clients are people that we like, trust and enjoy working with. It’s equally important though that you feel the same way about us. That’s why our step-by-step process is designed to allow both of us the time to decide whether there will be a good fit in working together. We will check with you every step of the way that you are happy to proceed and will never pressure you into making a decision before you’re ready.
It will usually be clear to both of us by the end of our initial meeting whether or not we want to work together. If we both agree that we do, then that’s great. If not then our goal is to have given you clarity about your financial situation, so you will have benefited from our meeting whether you decide to proceed or not.

8. What's the process if I become a client?

We have designed a simple step-by-step process for you so that there are no unexpected surprises along the way

  • Step 1: The first step is to arrange your Initial Meeting, at no cost to you; so that we can explore what you want your future life to be and to start to understand your personal goals and objectives.
  • Step 2:  If we both agree that we want to work together then we will arrange your Planning Meeting where we help you create your personal Financial Life Plan
  • Step 3: Once we’re agreed on the way forward, we'll get started on the elements of the plan that need the most attention.
  • Step 4: We will arrange your forward plannng meeting at least annually, so that you can update us about any changes to your circumstances or goals, and we can tell you exactly how your plan is doing. That way you can be sure your plan always remains on track to help you achieve your financial goals.

9. How can I be certain I can trust you and your firm?

We act as a fiduciary for our clients.  What does that mean? It means that we promise to act in your best interests at all times and to establish and maintain a relationship of trust and confidence. We don’t take this responsibility lightly. It’s important to us that you have complete confidence that we are the people you want to trust with your financial future. We’ll check with you at every stage that you are happy to continue and will never ask you to make a decision before you are completely ready.
Our level of professional competence is another reason you can trust us. Chris Weetman is one of only 3% of financial advisers in the UK to be both qualified as a Chartered Financial Planner and to hold the Certified Financial Planner accreditation.  Here at Otus we are also committed to the code of ethics required by the Institute of Financial Planning (IFP) and Personal Finance Society (PFS); not just because these are the industry standard recommendations but because Otus has been created based on the personal values and ethics of its Director, Chris Weetman. This is not company based on sales targets and aggressive business growth plans. Rather it is based on a desire to provide an exceptional personal service to clients and to genuinely help you to improve your life by helping you achieve your financial dreams.
Otus Financial Planning is a trading style of Otus Financial Ltd which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
